My name is Papa Rocko, based in London UK and I make tribal 'rock art' inspired by places in the world, cultures, ancient civilizations, street art and music.. For everything that is old and new!
Ever since traveling to Africa and South America I became interested in the tribal, mystical and ancestral artwork and imagery. The rocks in the mountains of Peru especially called out to me and I often saw faces hidden in the natural mountain terrain. That is what influenced me to make ‘rock art’ and create my name as Papa Rocko. Papa was inspired by Papa Legba, who is a Loa (God) in Haitian Vodou, serving as the intermediary between the Loa and humanity. In Haiti, he is the great elocutioner. Legba facilitates communication, speech, and understanding.
